MIAMI -- A Muslim cleric accused of financially supporting the Pakistani Taliban is on the witness stand for a fourth day in a Miami federal courtroom.
Prosecutors expect Friday to finish what has been a combative cross-examination of 77-year-old Hafiz Khan. The judge overseeing the case has repeatedly admonished Khan not to give rambling or insulting answers.
Khan is accused of providing more than $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban, listed by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist organization affiliated with al-Qaida. Khan insists the money he sent overseas was for innocent or business purposes.
Khan also has testified that he lied to an FBI informant about supporting the Taliban in hopes of getting money from the man.
Khan faces 15 years in prison if convicted on each of four terrorism-support charges.
