OLB Jarvis Jones will not participate at the 2013 NFL Combine, and CB Dee Milliner will have surgery.
Right out of the gate on Thursday at the NFL Combine, there was news about two players who the Cleveland Browns might be interested in selecting at No. 6 overall. The first player is outside linebacker Jarvis Jones, who will not participate in workouts, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter:
Jones is listed as the top outside linebacker on Mocking the Draft's big board, and he is their seventh-ranked player overall. There does not appear to be anything wrong with Jones, and it often happens that top prospects decide to wait until their Pro Day to work out. In a way, if your stock is already high, it ensures that you don't do anything to disappoint.
The other player included Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner, who Mocking the Draft had going to the Browns in their latest mock draft. According to ESPN, Milliner will have surgery on his shoulder after the combine. He will participate in all of the drills at the combine still, except for the bench press. Milliner's representatives stated that he would be ready before training camp:
"The doctors have informed us that he will be 100 percent and fully recovered in time for training camp in July," said Tony Fleming, one of Milliner's reps with Impact Sports. "We will be providing all NFL clubs information prior to surgery and updates close to the draft."
Like Jones, Milliner is considered the top prospect at his position in this year's draft. Because of that, it doesn't seem likely that his surgery will hurt his stock, but it's still worth noting.
