SACRAMENTO -
President Obama?s announcement that 34,000 troops will come home from Afghanistan within one year is welcome news here at home.? It also brings to mind the need for veteran support services.
?They?re going to need appropriate mental health screening,? said Robert Hale, a counselor at the Sacramento Veterans Resource Center.? ?They?re going to need access to mental health services.? And probably one of the biggest things they?re going to need is acceptance from the people here in America for the?job that they?ve done over there.?
After announcing the troop drawdown in his State of the Union address, President Obama said, ?We will keep faith?with our veterans, investing in world class care, including mental health care.?
The services of the Veterans Resource Center, which include employment counseling and training, are available free of charge to the vets.
