Busy busy: wine kids adoption | Rowan Family Tree

I know I have not logged very much lately? I?ve been a bit overwhelmed with work and the other things going on in our life. I?ve been working triple time so that I can get everything done in time to go away for the holidays. We are all looking forward to going to Costa Rica so much! But it takes a lot of prep work to get there. I know that I won?t see the girls were Jason very much this week and all, but it will be worth it when we get away for two weeks together.

So what?s been going on with us generally? Well we have a lot going on as usual.

The business: we have been waiting and waiting for our leasehold space to be finished and ready to take possession. There?re complications with the building and so now our lease which was to have started September 1, still has not started. That means that we?ve been in a permanent holding pattern with the business for months. And it?s been costing us money the whole time?

As for our adoption: that?s in a holding pattern as well. There was a matching meeting in October, but we were not matched. So we wait till February for the next meeting and hope that our luck will turn then. I?m definitely tired of waiting now and have been keeping my eyes open for other waiting child opportunities. But, none of them have come to fruition, so we wait.

Everything is going pretty well with our girls right now. They?re growing by leaps and bounds, but stretching out and getting skinny since they are not putting on any weight. I swear, I didn?t feed them! They are growing by leaps and bounds mentally as well. We seem to be having more interesting conversations all the time. And I love the bits of their personality that are coming forward. Sugar has been asking the questions, such as wire we hear, what is our purpose in life, and has been bugging her daddy about table manners and all sorts of other things. She really is a chip off the old block. Spice has been also up to her old tricks. She?s been playing jokes on us so well lately that she gets us all the time. Grandma and grandpa were in town visiting and when they came back from the playground she came up to me and said oh I?m sorry I let my pants?. Of course, the little turkey had actually just going down the slide and Wet her bum. But she had me going until she was butt naked in the kitchen. What a little stinker.

As for Jason, he?s been doing pretty well actually. He?s been home almost every day the last few months and is adapting to his temporary role of stay-at-home dad. More on that later? But without the late hours of on call work in the beautiful fall sunshine, I think he?s really enjoying this season and spending time with his girls.

As for me, I?ve been busy as usual. Work is going well, and I was lucky to have all courses this semester that I have talked before. So despite some serious health issues, I was able to get through the semester and do a good job. We have been very busy behind the scenes with vulnerable children, and that has taken up much more of my time than I expected. Currently, I?m also taking a wine course. I?m doing my third level of the WSET wine and spirits education trust courses. It?s actually quite difficult? Not that it is not fun to taste wines all day, from 9-5 But it is also difficult calibrating your talent so that you can taste things like one percent of alcohol difference between wine. There is kind of studying to do as well, which I have not been doing a very good job. My only book that I will take to Costa Rica is my textbook for the course. I?ll be darned if I am going to fail this course! Due to a lack of studying. But I am having fun and learning a ton. Jason has also been watching videos at night to study with me, so he is increasing his wine knowledge too.

That is about it as far as news around here? There is a lot of news! Hopefully soon I?ll give you some details on some of these different activities.
